‘Turo’ in English

There are two meanings of ‘turo’ in Tagalog it’s either pointing something or teach.

 

magturo, ituro – to teach
magturo, ituro – to point something through your finger

 Magturo – means teaching
Magturo sa iskwelahan / Magturo sa paaralan – to teach on the school
Magturo sa istudyante – to teach the student
Magaling magturo – means good in teaching
Tagaturo – a teacher or the one who teaches you something

 

Here are some examples see the differences of ‘turo-teach’ and ‘turo-point’:

‘turo-point

  • Turuan mo siyang magbasa.You teach him/her to read.
  • Turuan mo siya kung paano magluto. – Teach him/her how to cook.
  • Ituro mo nga ang tatay mo. – You point your dad.
  • Ituro mo ang paborito mo. – You point your favorite.
  • Ituro mo siya. – Point him.
  • Ituro mo ang gusto mo. – You point what you want.
  • Itinuro ko siya sayo kanina. – I pointed him on you a while ago.



‘turo-teach

  • Tinuruan kita kahapon. – I taught you yesterday.
  • Hindi ko alam kong paano magturo. – I don’t know how to teach.
  • Hindi ko siya tinuruan. – I did not teach him/her.
  • Hindi kita matuturuan. – I can’t teach you.
  • Turuan mo naman ako. – Please teach me.
  • Tinuruan ko siya. – I teach him.
  • Ayaw kong magturo. – I don’t want to teach.
  • Ayaw kitang turuan. – I don’t want to teach you.
  • Mahirap magturo. – Its difficult to teach.
  • Hindi madaling magturo. – It’s not easy to teach.
  • Ano ang tinuro ko sayo? – What did I taught you?
  • Tinuruan mo ba siya? – Did you teach him/her?
  • Pwede mo ba akong turuan? – Can you teach me?
