Use ‘I am’ in Tagalog Sentences

“I am” is translated in Tagalog as ‘Ako ay’. For example, ‘I am Ronald.’ This sentence is simply translated as ‘Ako ay si Ronald.’ And for instance you could also use ‘Ako si Ronald.’ This is only when you’re introducing your name, but on the other sentences its different here are some examples:


Simple Sentences Examples:

  • I am Filipino.Ako ay Pilipino.
  • I am handsome.Ako ay gwapo.
  • I am beautiful.Ako ay maganda.
  • I am yours.Ako ay sayo.
  • I am here.Ako ay nandito.
  • I am late.Ako ay huli na.

Note: You could also use the revising sentences of these examples. For example of ‘I am Filipino.’ Instead of using ‘Ako ay Filipino.’ you can also use ‘Filipino ako.’ this is for instance, but if you want to use the ‘Ako ay’ then it’s up to you, however if you don’t want to get confused then use ‘Ako ay’.

  • I am yours. – Sayo ako.
  • I am here. – Nandito ako.
  • I am late.Huli na ako.

Other Sentences Examples:

  • I am busy right now.Ako ay abala ngayon.
  • I am joining the contest.Ako ay sasali sa paligsahan.
  • I am going to the Philippines. – Ako ay pupunta sa Pilipinas.
