‘An American Assigned to work in Philippines’ Conversation

March 26, 2012

American: Can you help me with my baggage?
Tagalog: Pwede mo ba akong tulungan sa bagahe ko?

Filipino: Sure, where is your baggage?
Tagalog: Oo naman, saan ang bagahe mo?

American: Its there, kindly get it for me.
Tagalog: Nandoon, pakikuha nalang para sa akin.

After getting the baggage… (Pagkatapos makuha ang bagahe.)
Filipino:  Here’s your stuff. You have a lot of baggage.
Tagalog: Heto na ang gamit mo. Ang dami mong bagahae.

American: Yes, because I will be very busy here in the Philippines for a long time.
Tagalog: Oo, kasi magiging abala ako dito sa Pilipinas sa mahabang panahon.

Filipino: Really? What is the reason?
Tagalog: Talaga? Sa anong rason?

American: My manager assigned me to work here for six months.
Tagalog:  Itinakda kasi ako ng manidyer ko na magtrabaho dito sa loob ng anim na buwan.

Filipino: It’s too long. Can you handle the culture here?
Tagalog: Ang tagal naman. Makakaya mo ba ang kultura dito?

American: Of course, Filipinos are very religious that’s why I did not neglect the work offered by my manager.
Tagalog: Oo naman, ang mga Pinoy ay talagang relihiyoso kaya nga hindi ako nag-alangan sa trabahong inialok ng manidyer ko.

Filipino: That’s really true.
Tagalog: Talagang totoo yan.

American: I have to go. Thanks for helping me on my baggage.
Tagalog: Kailangan ko ng umalis. Salamat sa tulong mo sa bagahe ko.

Filipino: No problem.
Tagalog: Walang problema.
