Pagtanggi ng imbitasyon (Declining an Invitation)Here is another simple conversation between two individuals. One is inviting the other to a graduation ceremony. Nag-imbita ng ibang kaibigan ang nagtatapos. (The graduating is inviting other friend.) G. Graduate F. Friend G. Gusto ko sana imbitahin kayo sa aking pagtatapos mamayang hapon. (I would like to invite you to attend of my graduation this afternoon.) F. Gusto ko sana pero hindi ako puwede. ( I’d like to but I can’t.) G. Sige na naman. (Come on.) May tiket pa rito. (I have still an extra ticket here.) F. Pasensya ka na. (I’m sorry.) May pupuntahan kasi ako mamayang hapon, mahalagang bagay. (I have important matters to go this afternoon.) G. Ganoon ba? (Is that so?) F. Pasensya na. Sa kaarawan mo nalang puwede. (I am sorry. But I can on your birthday.) G. Pangako, kaibigan ha? (Promise me, friend?) F. Oo. Pangako ‘yan. Peks man. (Yes. Promise cross my heart.) G. Teka muna. Yayain ko na lang ang kapitbahay kong Amerikano. (Wait. I’ll invite my neighbor American.) F. Tama. Nasa kabilang bahay lang siya nakatira, at mahilig din 'yon ng kasiyahan. (Right. He’s staying at the other house near you. He’s also fond of a party.) Imbitahin mo siya. (Just invite him.) G. Maraming salamat. (Thank you very much.) |
