April 4, 2012

Mom: Let’s have our dinner guys.
Tagalog: Kumain na tayo ng hapunan.

Daughter: This is delicious.
Tagalog: Masarap ito.

Son: Oh what kind of food is this?
Tagalog: Anong klaseng pagkain ba ito?

Mom: It’s a palitaw.
Tagalog: Palitaw yan.

Son: What is a palitaw?
Tagalog: Ano ang palitaw?

Mom: It’s made of sticky rice.
Tagalog: Gawa yan sa malagkita na kanin.

Daughter: Yeah, that’s malagkit right?
Tagalog: Oo, yan yung malagkit diba?

Mom: Yes, your aunt gave it to us.
Tagalog: Oo, binigay ito ng tiya niyo.

Son: Why there’s a coconut on it?
Tagalog: Bakit may niyog ito?

Mom: It should always have coconut because it is more delicious.
Tagalog: Kailangan may niyog para mas masarap.

Daughter: Try to taste it brother.
Tagalog: Subukan mong tikman kuya.

Son: Okay after I’m done with this cook rice and tinolang manok.
Tagalog: Sige pagkatapos nitong kanin at tinolang manok.

Mom: Eat well.
Tagalog: Kumain ng mabuti.
